What could go wrong with oxygen sensor?

2018/05/10

Oxygen sensor normally can last up to 100K miles, but sometimes there might be problems sooner than that.

Because over time, an oxygen sensor might become caked with byproducts of combustion such as sulfur, lead, fuel additives, oil ash, etc. This contamination will cause the oxygen sensor lose its ability to produce voltage and send the right signal.

What will speed up the oxygen sensor to fail?

  1. Use unsuitable fuel
  2. Use low-quality gasoline
  3. Skip maintenance
  4. Do not do spark plug timely and air filter replacement
